30° ANNIVERSARIO BITURBO

The 30th Anniversay of the Biturbo Meeting was a great success and congratulations go out to the organisers from the Biturbo Club Italia and especially Claudio Ivaldi.

According to Claudio, seventy eight Maseratis took part with cars from seven different countries; France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and England, and of course from all parts of Italy, from Pordenone in the North to Syracuse in the South. A camera crew even came over from Australia to film the proceedings. Hopefully a DVD of the event will be available soon !

Among the cars on view were several rare versions from the now rare Biturbo 1a serie to the 228, from the Racing to the Karif, from the Ghibli Cup to the Ghibli Primatist, including rare one-off examples like the 2.8-litre carburettor 428 in its gold finish.

Thirteen celebrities associated with the history, including development and road testing of these cars, were invited, including Pierangelo Andreani, designer of the Biturbo.

Hearty congratulations were passed on by representatives of Maserati S.p.A.

Over EURO 2,300 was collected on behalf of those badly affected by the recent earthquakes in the Emilia region of Italy.

One of the unforgettable moments during the meeting was the magnificent display of the entire production range of the Eighties and Nineties in the courtyard of the Panini Museum.

At the Modema Autodromo all the competion versions produced in the Biturbo era were seen in action, and who of those present will ever forget the invasion of whistling sounds from those Biturbo engines at the Autodromo di Modena.

But, above all, the event will be remembered for the coming together of the many friends with an unrivalled passion - the love of their Maserati Biturbo !!

I was so sorry that I couldn't be there !!

Here are a few photographs of the cars on display in Piazza Roma in the centre of Modena. The photos were submitted by "ammiraglio66" for the Reparto Corse 2 web site.
