copyright Maserati Club SwedenInternational Maserati Meeting  -  2/5 September 2010

The first weekend of September weekend saw the staging of the 2010 International Maserati Meeting.

For 2010, the Maserati Club Sweden had the honour of hosting this annual Maserati gathering, an event exclusive to Maserati Club members.

Over 70 members of Maserati Clubs from all over Europe assembled at Skåne in the southernmost part of Sweden.

This event, hosted by a different Maserati club each year, typifies all that is best in the Maserati tradition; fast classic and modern cars, mouth-watering gourmet food complemented with vintage wines, top class accomodation and friendship built on mutual respect.

Maserati Club members will be delighted to know that for 2011, the Maserati Club Austria will be hosting the International Meeting.

Looking back on the history of this event, the inaugural international meeting was an "unofficial" rally organised jointly by members of the Maserati Club and the Maserati Club France. It appears that the seeds were sown when letters were exchanged between the two clubs leading up to the "Seine Valley Serenade" in 1978.

From the information I have gathered the success of this meeeting, together with the efforts and support of the members, led up to the traditional International meetings of today.

From Claus in Denmark

"Hello Enrico,

My name is Claus and I live in Denmark.

I have recently bought a 1971 Maserati Mexico and would like to get to know the other owners of Classic GT Maseratis in Denmark.

My car is presently stuck in my garage, it rains cats and dogs outside, so I have contacted the seller to obtain the original pictures.

This is my Mexico.

Best regards,

Claus.

PS Great web-site you have made."

"Ciao Enrico,

grazie in anticipo

Nicola.
"

"Hi Enrico,

We are at present sorting out the Maserati 222 of my brother-in-law, and it quite some time since I discovered your site, and I am really impressed. Thank you for of the archival information. The site is truly rich in information and I have been able to find lots of it.

Actually, I have a problem that is not too technical: where can I find the stamped chassis number ? Can you tell me where it is sited on this model, or in general on the Biturbos ?

Thanking you in anticipation,

Nicola."

From Peter in Thailand

"Hi,

I have some interesting observations from my country Thailand about the Maserati Ghibli II offered here:

See the pictures attached of a black 1994 Maserati with Alcantara interior throughout, no clock, different air vents, no automatic suspension and a manual air conditioning system!! The blue device on the dash board is part of the music system that is housed in the boot.

Many of these might be custom design, however I see in the ball beige Connolly leather equipped cars the top of the dash covered in Alcantara here in Thailand. It might be due to the tropical climate and the hot sun (see pic attached). Other leather colours do not have the Alcantara. Also the wood trim on the center console where the radio and air condition controls are sited a delete option (see pics of red Maserati without wood).

I wonder how much of all these was really available from the factory. Especially the manual air conditioning control panel which looks as though it was fitted by Maserati.

Have fun with the pics.

Peter."

Italian Car & Bike Day

"Hello Henry,

Well, as promised, here is some footage from said event which I have to say was certainly the largest and most interesting gathering of Italian hardware I have ever seen in Scotland.

From our own stable a considerable turnout of some 21 cars which additionally is the largest collection of Tridents in this country in one go ever, I think. (unless someone from the Club can correct me deferring to an indigenous Club-only event that I have missed…?)

Regrettably not as promised, in the melee of final logistics I forgot the camera and had to use something else- see what you think about the quality…

Regards,

Jim."

From Mike in Italy

"Amici,

Buone vacanze e a presto!!

"Dear Enrico,

Could not restist and bought this 1991 Shamal with only 25,000 KM on the clock! We just got the first snow so "roadtesting" will have to wait until spring !

But I am exited.

Went to see the Historic Monaco Grand Prix.

On the way home, did some passes in the French Sea Alps; Col du Castillion, Col de Braus, Col de Turini and back over the Tenda pass to Cueno, Turin, Grand St. Bernhard back to Switzerland.

Was a fantastic 8 hour drive behind the wheel of the Shamal. Due to his shorter wheelbase and the endles torque this car drives fantastic.

Regards,

Hans Peter."

From Paolo in Denmark

"Salve Enrico,

Ti rigrazio moltissimo anticipatamente, attendo risposta.

a presto e in gamba !!!

Ciaociao,

Paolo.
"

"Salve Enrico,

And thanks again for recommending that I contact David Askew, regarding the spare parts that I asked you about some time ago. I bought quite a few parts and the gentleman is very helpful and fast.

Congratulations on reaching the 200th page of your Maseratisti section of your website, great !!

I am sending you a few photos of my '88 Spyderthat I bought five years ago, and with patience has been restored during this period.

When I bought the car, it was ready to be taken to the dump, it was all rusty and there was hardly anything worth saving.

After a time at the bodyshop, paint shop, upholsterer, and finally to Modena Performance of Florian Ebersoldt, the car is ( almost ) ready to drive. It has been slightly customised, but whoever I show it to, is surprised.

All the electrics, engine, transmission, gearbox and brakes are from a 2.8-liter Ghibli GT. The modification was carried out with much patience and time by Modena Performance. The car is a "little devil", but what a pleasure to drive.....I have never experienced so many people looking at me, sometimes I feel quite embarrassed.....

Comunque per essere a posto, we need to resolve a problem with the ABS braking system, that is giving us a few problems. Presently the car is with me in Denmark and florian cannot help me when I am this far away, therefore I wanted to kindly ask you if you could send me the schematic diagrams for the ABS braking system for this Ghibli 2.8, If you have it.

It appears that brake fluid is not arriving at the rear brakes, It could be a problem with the brake proportioning (bias) valve......perhaps....

Thanking you in anticipation.

See you soon and take care !!!

Bye bye,

Paolo."

From Ben in Denmark

"Hi Enrico,

I hope all is well with you and your wife and that her recovery continues to proceed with success.

I am sending you some pictures from a recent concours in southern Sweden in the middle of July (http://www.facc.nu/index.html). As for Maseratis, there were the following:

Ghibli 4.7
Shamal
Quattroporte
Biturbo Spyder
Granturismo S Automatica

I am also sending you a picture of my Shamal...before and after...notice the trident and the grille.

Thanks to you, you may now remove my listing on your Parts Wanted section. After nearly five years, I have succeeded in finding a grille and trident! A private individual from Italy sent me an email out of the blue offering it to me. I'll surely come to you again, if I am searching for a part.

Regards,

Ben."
