NEW MASERATI LEVANTE HYBRID

Opposites attract at the World Premiere of Maserati's first hybrid SUV:

both at the Shanghai Auto Show and virtually on houseof.maserati.com

Modena, 19 April 2021 ̵ The Maserati Levante Hybrid is presented to the world in both a physical and digital World Premiere event. In fact, the dual nature of Maserati is shown at the Shanghai Auto Show for its live presentation, and, for the rest of the world, in a virtual launch event on the brand's website (houseof.maserati.com).

Maserati Levante Hybrid

Maserati Levante Hybrid

With the Brand's first electrified SUV, Maserati takes a major step forward in its strategy for electrification, which began last year with the Ghibli Hybrid.

"Faster. Greener. Unique", Levante Hybrid is faster than a diesel, more sustainable than diesel or gasoline, and unique in its specific characteristics.

Maserati Levante Hybrid

The Maserati SUV, which has already made an impact in the history of the Brand with its record-breaking figures, now presses ahead into a future in which all new Trident models will be electrified.

Maserati Levante Hybrid

Maserati Levante Hybrid

Maserati is innovative by nature, and with Levante it pursues the philosophy behind its entry into the world of electrification: the aim of improving performance while staying true to the Brand's values, delivering speed and agility while saving fuel and reinforcing the Trident's dedication to driving pleasure and luxury. The result is a hybrid SUV that retains the distinctive roar of every Maserati.

Maserati Levante Hybrid

Maserati Levante Hybrid

Levante Hybrid combines the 4 cylinder, 2 litre engine with a 48 volt Hybrid system to recover energy during deceleration and braking. The hybrid car weighs less than the 6 cylinder engine equivalent (both diesel and gasoline), and above all has an even better weight distribution since the battery is placed in the rear without compromising the load capacity and optimally balancing the masses of the vehicle. All designed to make Levante Hybrid even more agile and fun to drive.

Maserati Levante Hybrid

Thanks to a maximum power output of 330 hp and torque of 450 Nm delivered from just 2,250 rpm, the performance data of the new Levante Hybrid, only available with all-wheel drive, is impressive: a top speed of over 240 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds.

In terms of appearance, the Levante Hybrid launch version is characterised by a new metallic tri-coat colour called Azzurro Astro, available as part of the Brand's customisation programme, Maserati Fuoriserie.

Other exterior and interior details contribute to this car's immediately recognisable design: some are in blue, the shade chosen to identify hybrid cars, already used by Maserati on Ghibli Hybrid.

On the exterior, blue characterises the three iconic side air ducts, the brake calipers and the C-pillar logo. The same blue shade reappears inside the car, specifically on the embroidered seams of the seats.

Levante Hybrid is connected, thanks to the new Maserati Connect program. Having your Maserati connected at all times enables an eye to be kept on the car's health, and Maserati Connect will alert the driver when a service is due, improving the customer care experience. With a Smartphone or Smartwatch, drivers can stay in contact with their car via the Maserati Connect App; this is also possible from home via their virtual personal assistant (Amazon Alexa & Google Assist).

Special guests at the digital premiere of Levante Hybrid were David Beckham, the new Maserati Brand Global Ambassador, and Dardust, with an exclusive soundtrack.

MASERATI AT SHANGHAI AUTO SHOW

Big news for Maserati at the Shanghai Auto Show 2021.

The largest Auto Show in the world reopens and the Trident Brand reveals the Levante Hybrid, the first electrified SUV in its history.

Maserati at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show

The MC20, Maserati's super sports car, makes its first appearance at the Shanghai Auto Show alongside the global premiere of the F Tributo Special Edition.

The new Nettuno engine and the full range feature on the stand. An area dedicated to connectivity underlines Maserati's affinity for innovation, while another area is reserved for the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation programme, presenting the Corsa, Unica and Futura collections.

Maserati CEO Davide Grasso commented: "Shanghai Auto Show is an extremely important event for our Brand. The Show marks a rebirth in difficult times. We believe strongly in this new beginning, and today we are showcasing several world premiere that project us straight into the future. The stand is dominated by the Brand's first electrified SUV, Levante Hybrid, which completes the Levante range and creates a new "family within the family", now comprising V6 and V8 gasoline and hybrid propulsion systems."

Levante Hybrid

With the Chinese debut of Levante Hybrid, Maserati takes a major step forward in its strategy for electrification, which began last year with the Ghibli Hybrid.

Maserati Ghibli Hybrid at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show

"Faster. Greener. Unique", Levante Hybrid is faster than a diesel, more sustainable than diesel or gasoline, and unique in its specific characteristics.

The Brand's new hybrid SUV combines the 4 cylinder, 2 litre engine with a 48 volt Hybrid system to recover energy during deceleration and braking. The hybrid car weighs less than the 6 cylinder engine version (gasoline and diesel), and above all, it has an even better weight distribution, thanks to the battery, mounted in the rear without any sacrifice in terms of load capacity, which balances the vehicle's weight to perfection. All designed to make Levante Hybrid even more agile and fun to drive.

Thanks to a maximum power output of 330 hp and torque of 450 Nm delivered from just 2,250 rpm, the performance data of the new Levante Hybrid, only available with all-wheel drive, is very impressive: top speed of over 240 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds. What's more, Levante Hybrid is still in every respect the "Maserati of SUVs", including in its sound, which, in spite of the hybrid propulsion, is the distinctive growl of every Trident Brand model.

In terms of appearance, the launch version is characterised by a new metallic tri-coat colour called Azzurro Astro, available within the Maserati Fuoriserie customisation programme in the Futura collection.

This is a particularly deep, bright iridescent colour with high impact and a unique beauty. It is an interference colour, varying from an intense sky blue in the sunlight to ash grey on surfaces in the shade.

Other exterior and interior details contribute to the new Levante Hybrid's immediately recognisable design: some are in blue, the colour chosen to identify hybrid cars, already adopted by Maserati to distinguish the Ghibli Hybrid.

On the exterior, blue characterises the three iconic side air ducts, the brake calipers (opt) and the C-pillar logo. The same shade reappears inside the car, on the embroidered seams of the seats.

Last but not least, the Trident Brand's first hybrid SUV is constantly connected, thanks to the Maserati Connect programme.

As well as at Shanghai Auto Show 2021, Maserati Levante Hybrid is also presented to the virtual world, with a digital event on the Brand's website (houseof.maserati.com).

F Tributo Special Edition

F Tributo Special Edition, represented at Shanghai Auto Show by the premiere of Ghibli F Tributo, embodies the incredible design and luxury of Maserati inspired by a motorsport and racing heritage.

Maserati Ghibli F Tributo

The F Tributo Badge

The new special series is available on Ghibli and Levante in two exclusive colours: Rosso Tributo and Azzurro Tributo.

The exteriors are characterised by the contrast between the Rosso or Azzurro bodywork and the yellow wheel trims and brake calipers.

To complete the exterior look, Levante F Tributo is fitted with Anteo 21" wheels in Black and Ghibli F Tributo with 21" wheels in glossy black Titanium.

In the cabin, the limited edition also matches the shades of the external details in the stitching of the Black full-grain "Pieno Fiore" leather, which is in red or yellow depending on the bodywork colour.

Maserati Fuoriserie

The Maserati stand includes an area emphasising that customisation has always been central to the services the Brand offers its customers: thanks to the new Maserati Fuoriserie programme, Trident cars can now be personalised to suit every buyer's individual tastes.

Maserati"s FUORISERIE Programme

To help customers find their way around the thousands of possible combinations, three collections have been created, Corsa, Unica and Futura that express the Brand's power and represent its values of sportiness, elegance and innovation.

To mark Shanghai Auto Show, Maserati Fuoriserie has been extended with even more options on the Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante range. New external paints and liveries, and wheel and brake caliper colours, are now available for order, as well as specific cabin combinations with different stitching colour schemes and interior layouts.

What's more, from today the Fuoriserie Programme also includes MC20, enabling purchasers to customise their super sports car's exterior with a wide selection of colours and liveries from the Corsa, Unica and Futura collections.

set the new Plymouth to La Rochelle record

Modena, April 16th 2021 ̵ Maserati Multi 70 and Giovanni Soldini conquer a new record: 239 miles from Plymouth (UK) to La Rochelle (FR) in 12 hours, 15 minutes and 21 seconds, with an average speed of 26,84 knots. The Italian Team's time is around 2 hours shorter than than the previous record, set by Lloyd Thornburg and Brian Thompson aboard Phaedo3 in 2015, of 14 hours, 5 minutes and 20 seconds.

Maserati Multi 70 set sail off Plymouth yesterday at 14:06:21 GMT (16:06:21 Italian time) and headed towards the north-western end of France, sailing with an average speed over 32̵33 knots and reaching peaks of 44 knots. Soldini explains: "Crossing the Channel we were sailing very fast, with 20̵25 knots of north̵easterly wind, then we arrived to Ouessant and it was great: the passage between the island and the coast is very narrow and we were sailing "a cannamorta" at 35 knots! Afterwards, sailing down along the French coast, the wind was 10̵15 degrees more narrow than predicted and we slowed down, but we were able to achieve an excellent result, we're very happy!"

The record is subject to the World Sailing Speed Record Council's ratification.

For this challenge, Giovanni Soldini sailed aboard Maserati Multi 70 with Giulio Bertelli, Guido Broggi, Carlos Hernandez Robayna, Oliver Herrera Perez, and Matteo Soldini. Another audacious achievement for the new Era of Maserati, in the name of speed and performance, key values of the Brand's strategy.

The record is the result of the collaboration, devoted to innovation, between Maserati and Giovanni Soldini's team. This process of transferring technological know̵how from thee Maserati Innovation Lab applied to Maserati Multi 70 has created a constantly evolving "laboratory-boat".

The Team is sailing back to their base in Cherbourg (FR), from where they will keep studying the weather conditions for the next few weeks to identify ideal windows to attempt to beat other two records in the English Channel: the Cowes to Dinard (the Channel Record) and the Fastner Original Course record (from Cowes to Plymouth, sailing around the Fastnet Lighthouse, south of Ireland).

Modena, 22 March 2021 - Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70's team arrived in Porto Cervo at 9:09 38" on 21st March, setting a new Monaco to Porto Cervo multihull record, sailing 195 miles in 7 hours, 50 minutes and 44 seconds. The Italian crew's record is only 2 minutes and 47 seconds better than the one set by MOD70 Phaedo3 in 2016 with Brian Thompson (7 hours, 53 minutes and 31 seconds and an average speed of 24,71 knots).

The Italian trimaran crossed the starting line off Monaco at 1:18 54" on Sunday 21st March and picked up speed towards Corsica. Soldini commented, "At first we were sailing really fast with 25/30 knots of north-easterly wind, reaching up to 38 knots of speed, then the wind dropped before the Strait of Bonifacio for a couple of hours. Luckily, the wind got stronger again and we started speeding up in the strait. It's been really incredible, we crossed the finish line sailing at 35 knots! We knew this would be a risky window because of the light wind near Corsica, but we wanted to try anyway and we did our best, pushing Maserati Multi 70 to the maximum, and we did it - we're all very happy, and exhausted!'

The record will be ratified by the World Sailing Speed Racing Council in the following days. Aboard Maserati Multi 70 with Giovanni Soldini was Vittorio Bissaro, an Italian Olympic sailor and Nacra17 World Champion, who had already raced with the trimaran's crew on many previous occasions. Also with them were Guido Broggi, Carlos Hernandez Robayna, Oliver Herrera Perez and Matteo Soldini.

Maserati Multi 70 was back in the water at the end of February, after almost four months in the shipyard. In the next weeks Soldini and his crew will be training and testing the latest improvements made to the trimaran. In fact, Maserati Multi 70 is the 'laboratory boat' to which the Modena Innovation Lab engineers have transferred their aerodynamics, technological innovation and performance know-how. These are the same values that guide the Maserati team of engineers and technicians in the development of all the new models of the new Maserati Era.

In the next days, the Italian Team will set sail towards England, looking for new records.

MASERATI BORA TURNS 50

Modena, 11 March 2021 - Maserati celebrates the Bora, the first mid-mounted rear engine road car in the Brand's history, just as the MC20 is the first mid-mounted rear engine vehicle in the new Era.

Maserati Bora turns 50

Maserati Bora turns 50

The wind of the Maserati Bora spans through 50 years of history, and reaches the dawn of a new phase for the Brand: all new models share the exclusiveness, sportiness and uniqueness that have always characterised the Modenese constructor, and Bora has also handed down its engine position, first introduced on the Tipo 63 (1961), initially reprised on the MC12, and now a key feature of the new MC20.

Maserati Bora turns 50

Maserati Bora turns 50

Exactly 50 years have passed since 11 March 1971, when the Geneva International Motor Show provided the backdrop for the debut of the Maserati Bora, which was produced until 1978 with 564 cars built, not to mention the spectacular Boomerang, a coupé prototype created by Giugiaro with futuristic engineering and wedge-shaped bodywork.

Maserati Bora turns 50

Maserati Bora turns 50

Following the trend that had already revolutionised Formula 1 racing cars over previous years, Maserati asked Giorgetto Giugiaro of Italdesign to come up with a mid-mounted rear engine sports car with enhanced performance, design, comfort and safety.

Maserati Bora turns 50

The engine was the tried and tested 4,700 cc V8 producing 310 horsepower at 6,000 rpm (to be joined by the 4,900 cc unit two years later), mounted lengthways on a subframe installed on the monocoque.

Maserati Bora turns 50

The car's distinctive features included retractable headlights to prevent aerodynamic drag, projecting differential on the rear axle, independent suspensions on all wheels (for the first time in a Maserati), disc brakes, dry-mounted single disc clutch, 5-speed gearbox and telescopic suspension dampers.

Maserati Bora turns 50

The Bora combined comfort and performance and had a top speed of over 280 km/h, ensuring great driving pleasure thanks to the engine's exceptionally agile response and the quiet interior.

Maserati Bora turns 50

While the car's engineering design carried the name of Giulio Alfieri, the aerodynamics and styling were by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who created a two-seater coupé on simple, elegant lines which gave the Maserati Bora a balanced appearance.

Maserati Bora turns 50

The approach was futuristic, with a low, slender, almost tapered front styled to cut through the air, while the front grille included two rectangular air vents with a Trident in the centre. The perfectly sleek sides were centrally divided by a thin black rubber trim, while the rear ended in a Kamm or truncated tail.

The result was a trend-setting, streamlined car perfect for the rock-and-roll spirit of the '70s, which is still delighting fans today.

POWERFUL MC20 ON SNOW

Modena, 10 March 2021 - The MC20 has never previously been seen unleashing its power on low-grip surfaces.

MC20 on snow<

MC20 on snow

The new Maserati super sports car is currently engaged in a series of reliability tests (on road and track, in various driving conditions) and intensive cold-weather trials on the snow-covered roads of the Valtellina and at the Ghiacciodromo Livigno (Sondrio), Italy's most notable snow and ice circuit.

MC20 on snow<

During its cold-weather mission, the super sports car was tested to evaluate engine cold starting, the low-temperature performance of its elastic components and the car's handling on cold and low-grip asphalt surfaces. The tests were also performed to verify correct functioning of the Climate Control System in cold conditions as well as tests conducted on the battery, suspensions and brakes.

The driving force behind Carrozzeria Touring was Felice Bianchi Anderloni, a lawyer turned test-driver who had strong family links with his employer, Isotta Fraschini. Moving on from Isotta Fraschini, he worked for Peugeot Italiana and in the winter of 1925 took control of Carrozzeria Falco in Milan together with his friend and business partner, Gaetano Ponzoni. Its name changed to Touring in 1926, the company obtained a licence for the Weymann method of body construction and soon was supplying bodies to a wide variety of Italian manufacturers. Designer Giuseppe Seregni was hired in 1927 and it was his Flying Star roadster, built on an Isotta Fraschini 8B chassis, which would establish Touring's reputation for styling innovation and matchless quality.

A self-taught engineer, Anderloni well understood the advantages conferred by reducing both weight and aerodynamic drag, famously declaring: "Weight is the enemy and air drag the obstacle". In pursuance of these goals he developed the Superleggera (Super Lightweight) method of body construction that is forever associated with the Milanese coachbuilder, which consisted of an outer skin of aluminium panels supported by an underlying framework of small-diameter steel tubes. The first Superleggera bodies were built in 1937.

Guided by Anderloni's son, Carlo, and designer Federico Formenti (hired in 1940), Touring would go on to create some of the most beautiful and influential cars of the post-war era, commencing with the Freccia d'Oro and Villa d'Este models on the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 chassis. Among Formenti's other memorable designs was the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante of 1952 and the Shah of Iran's Maserati 5000 GT of 1959, while together with Carlo Anderloni he was also responsible for the Aston Martin DB4 of 1958.

Unable to secure contracts to utilise the increased capacity of its new factory near Monza, Touring fell into receivership in March 1964 and was gone for good by the end of 1966. But, as is so often the case with a valuable motoring name, that was not the end of the Touring story. Carlo Anderloni and Carrozzeria Marazzi preserved the 'Touring Superleggera' trademark and used it to support the company's heritage until the current owners acquired the rights in 2006. The new firm is headquartered near Milan, its hometown, where it continues to produce limited-edition sports cars adhering to the classic design principles established by the original founders.

The inspiration for the Sciàdipersia, introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, was the three Maserati 5000 GTs that Touring built in the late 1950s, the first of which had been ordered by the Shah of Persia, a noted Maserati enthusiast. And like its illustrious forebear, the 21st Century Sciàdipersia is based on a Maserati: the GranTurismo two-door coupéé. Thus the Sciàdipersia has the 454bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine found in the sportier GranTurismo models and an MC Race Shift robotised six-speed manual paddle-shift gearbox or ZF six-speed automatic transmission with torque converter. Weighing some 120kg (264lb) less than the GranTurismo, the Sciàdipersia accelerates to 100km/h in 4.8 seconds on its way to an estimated top speed of 299km/h (186mph).

The interior also remains largely to GranTurismo pattern, albeit enhanced with opulent Italian leather and brushed aluminium trim. Externally, though, the Sciàdipersia departs radically from its donor car, featuring a completely redesigned body loosely based on the Touring 5000 GT's low-slung three-box silhouette, though considerably sleeker. According to Touring Superleggera: "As with every masterpiece, it all starts with a simple concept: the arrow, slimming down the centre sections to extend the perceived length. Its natural dynamism is further enhanced by the front and rear fender ridgelines.

"Unusually, but fittingly for a full four-seater, passengers are immersed in the surrounding natural environment thanks to the extensive glazing and the vast glass roof, permitted by the slim architecture of the rear pillar." Few would deny that the result is preferable to that achieved by Maserati. The exterior colour chosen is known as 'Orient Night Sky', which Touring says is intended to evoke a clear sky at night-time, while aluminium accents feature on the nose, tail, and 'C' pillar, harking back to the original.

Each one would be hand-built to order and only 15 cars were planned for production, though Touring Superleggera refused to quote a fixed price as that would vary depending on an owner's personal specification. Currently the limited series is sold-out, only one coupé (this car) has been completed, while all the other ordered, and currently manufactured, are cabriolet.

This Sciàdipersia is based on a 2017 donor car and has had only one owner. Presented in immaculate condition, it is offered with the original purchase invoice for €760.620 and comes with its set of customised Foglizzo luggage. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own this masterpiece of automotive design from one of the most celebrated names in Italian coachbuilding.

MASERATI CELEBRATES THE A6G 2000

Modena, 23 February 2021 - Starting from Maserati's roots to plan its future: the values of exclusivity, unique design and 100% Italian DNA of cars of the past are renewed today in the models that mark the Brand's New Era. It is in this spirit that Maserati celebrates the 70th anniversary of the A6G 2000.

The first A6G 2000, a car representative of the A6 series, built by Maserati from 1947 to 1956 and named in homage to Alfieri Maserati (hence the letter A) with a 6 indicating the engine type (straight 6) was delivered exactly 70 years ago, in February 1951.

The new model was the replacement for the A6 1500 series sports car, and its name referenced the cast iron (or "ghisa") of its crankcase ("6") and its engine displacement of 2,000 cc.

Maserati A6G 2000

Maserati A6G 2000

The need to increase power output in response to the general trend in the Italian market of demanding higher-performing cars, partly as a result of the country's improving economic conditions, led Maserati to convert the A6GCS two-litre engine to fully exploit the potential of the A6's chassis. The increase in displacement compared to the previous A6 model was achieved through precision engineering work on the bore and stroke of the straight 6. The upgraded engine, with displacement of 1,954.3 cc, achieved a power output of 90 to 100 horsepower depending on the final setup, enabling a top speed of 180 km/h, a clear manifesto of Maserati cars' quality sports spirit.

The 1950 Turin Motor Show provided the backdrop for the impressive launch of the A6G 2000, which Maserati presented in two versions: a 4-seater, 2-door sedan by Pinin Farina, and a convertible designed by Pietro Frua.

Sixteen of these cars were assembled in 1950 and 1951: nine with bodywork by Pinin Farina, and five convertibles and a coupé by Pietro Frua.

Alfredo Vignale produced just one car, a two-tone A6G 2000 coupé, with his signature sporty stylistic features.

Rear-wheel drive, a gearbox with four speeds plus reverse and a dry-mounted single disc clutch completed the characteristics of the new A6G 2000, together with the independent wheel front suspensions and rear suspensions comprising rigid axle with leaf springs. Hydraulically operated drum brakes on all four wheels and solid steel or spoked wheels completed the carefully chosen blend of craftsmanship and technological innovation, which made this car, built for the few, an icon on the motoring scene of the time.

Uniqueness, sportiness and Italian construction are all central to Maserati's DNA and are still visible today in the new models that will characterise the coming years, with state-of-the-art technological solutions.

Innovative by nature, Maserati plans its future by keeping faith with its past.

36th EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL:

MASERATI MC20 AWARDED "Most beautiful supercar of the year"

Paris, 26 January 2021 — This evening, the online awards ceremony for the Festival Automobile International was held with Maserati taking pride of place amongst the winners. The recently launched MC20, which premiered globally last September at the MMXX international show in Modena, received the award for the "most beautiful supercar of the year".

Maserati MC20

Klaus Busse, Maserati Head of Design, said, "We are honoured to receive this coveted accolade, which recognises the work of an entire team who have made a whole-hearted commitment to this unique project, creating a car that opens a new chapter in Maserati's history." MC20 is a mix of elegance, sporting prowess and personality, and a genuine masterpiece of style, which inaugurates a new era for the Trident Brand. Designed at the Centro Stile Maserati in Turin, the MC20 marks Maserati's return to the super sports car segment, with a car that combines mind-blowing performance, ground-breaking technology and audacious technical solutions.

The MC20 is a model that identifies itself by its uniquely Italian character. A tasteful, pure concept, without stylistic excesses: the timeless design that has always been the signature of Maserati cars of all eras. The innate class and purity of its lines highlight a personality of sheer sporting brilliance: the upper part of the car is a sculpted artwork, while its lower section is a concentrate of pure technology.

The MC20's design achieves a perfect balance between opposites, with the ideal mix between craftsmanship and engineering, which combines the unique quality of hand workmanship and the absolute precision of the most advanced production processes.

Developed by the Maserati Innovation Lab and produced at the historic plant in Modena, MC20 is 100% made in Italy. The most distinctive feature of the new super sports car is its exclusive butterfly doors, which are not only aesthetically stunning but also provide the driver and passengers with easier access, both inside and outside the cabin. This super sports car is the first Maserati to have vertical headlights: a revolution in the brand's design criteria. The wide, low, horizontal rear light clusters are equally distinctive.

MC20's superb looks conceal an uncompromisingly sporty soul, with the new 630hp V6 Nettuno engine that delivers 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 2.9 seconds and a top speed over 325 km/h: an engine 100% patented, conceived, designed and built entirely by Maserati.
