"Dear Enrico,

Maserati enthusiasts may be interested to know that my 1964 Mistral #AM 109*090 will be entered in the Russo and Steele auction in Monterey during the Pebble Beach weekend at no reserve.

This car is in very nice driver condition. Always pampered and garage kept by same Southwestern owner of more than 20 years. Paint has been redone and is very nice. There is a stress crack in the paint above the driver side front wheel which is shown in one of the photos. The driver door fit needs adjustment, which is also shown in a photo. The interior is very nice except for the carpets, which have some stains and sun fading in a few areas. All five Borrani wire wheels are very nice, and all five tires are new Pirellis. Chrome is good overall except the bumpers have some wavyness in a few places, and the rear window trim has some pitting. Engine compartment is clean. I just spent $5,250 on a major service to make sure the car has no mechanical issues. Comes with several boxes of manuals, technical paperwork, and spare parts. Car is available for inspection.

Thanks!

Simon."

From a 'Very Happy Maserati Owner' in Italy

"Ciao Enrico,

A presto!

D."

"Ciao Enrico,

I am sending you some photos of my Ghibli Open Cup, taken during and after its restoration that has been just completed. The car has undergone a total overhaul of all the major mechanical components including the engine, clutch, gearbox, rear differential, brakes and suspension.

Even the bodywork has been totally repaired and repainted: its condition was such that it was impossible to leave it in its previous state. In fact in some places the paintwork was so far gone that it became necessary to respray the whole car, even though it had been my intention to preserve the car in its original condition.

For the final finishing touch, I have had faithful reproductions of the original advertising transfers made, these were the mandatory stickers of the 1995 Ghibli Open Cup Championship cars (on my car there still remain the original factory seals on the fuel feed system and rear differential, that the championship regulations required).

I have already tested the car and I must say I have gained tremendous satisfaction at having returned the car to its original state, especially after having been abandoned and neglected during recent years.

I have also included some photos of a few details perculiar to the car: the aluminium panels fitted above and below the exhaust tailpipes serve to protect the plastic rear bumper from the heat.

On the headlights I have fitted the the same glass-fibre protectors that were fitted by the original race team when they raced at Estoril in Spain. The technical regulations for the Estoril circuit during the championship required the fitting of these protectors - to avoid broken glass spilling onto the track in the event of any contact/collisions between the competiting cars.

The only change I have made to the originality of my Ghibli has been the addition of a front passenger seat - purely in the interests of promoting matrimonial harmony!

See you soon!

D."
