MASERATI DAY 2019

INVITATION

Dear friends and fans of the brand Maserati,

What was intended in 2014 as a one-off event celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Maserati brand is now taking place for the sixth time this year. At that time the two enthusiasts Werner Blaettel and Mathias Landau wanted to hold only a small Maserati meeting, today the MASERATI DAY advances to the largest Maserati meeting in Germany. Last year there were already over 120 vehicles with participants from more than six different European countries. Around 2000 people visited the event on sunday. As a competent partner, the KLASSIKSTADT, Frankfurt offers the perfect location for this event. And Maserati Germany, represented by the car dealership Tridente in Frankfurt, is now engaged for the fifth time in the MASERATI DAY and presents the current product range of the brand with the famous tridente.

In 2019 we would like to treat a special topic at KLASSIKSTADT:

The 70's - The Citroen era. Looking forward to the vehicles of this era: Quattroporte II, Bora and Merak will be honoured at this event. There will be a special presentation surface for these models. With the stage-like ramp in the inner courtyard of the KLASSIKSTADT, which is available for the first time this year, we have the opportunity to present interesting Maseratisti and their vehicles. But there will also be the opportunity for exciting talks with special guests. Be curious !

The market-like range of Italian culinary delights and offers matching our favorite brand will round off this summer's day in Frankfurt. Further up-to-date information about the event can be found here on our Facebook page: "MASERATI DAY".

In addition, we would like to offer on Saturday the 24th of August 2019 a small rally with an interesting program and evening event. Do you have interest? Then contact us by pm. See you: Whether for MASERATI DAY on Sunday, the 25.08.2019 from 10.00h in the KLASSIKSTADT Frankfurt, or already on Saturday to spend the whole weekend under the sign of the tridentE. And who would like to come without Maserati in the KLASSIKSTADT, is of course also invited !

Cordiali saluti,

Mathias Landau & Werner Blaettel and the entire MASERATI DAYS team.

INVITATION

Cordiali saluti

Mathias Landau & Werner Blaettel und das ganze Team der MASERATI DAYS.

ITALIAN AUTO ICONS TO PAY TRIBUTE TO
THE MASERATI 250F AND RACING LEGEND REG HUNT

The annual Italian Auto Icons classic Italian car, motorcycle and scooter display took place on Lygon Street on Sunday, March 3, 2019.

Australian legend Reg Hunt (right) with a 1968 Maserati Ghilbi, were on display during the event.

Event organisers put on a special display of a replica 1956 Maserati 250 F which dominated in podium awards at the 1956 Australian Grand Prix, held at Melbourne’s Albert Park.

There were five 250F cars entered in the event, and four of them finished in the top five.

British driver Stirling Moss took out first place, while Australian legend Reg Hunt finished in fourth place.

Born in Manchester and having migrated to Australia in 1949, Hunt established a career as a competitive and successful racing driver during the 1950s, winning many races in his 250F.

He retired from racing Maseratis in the late 1950s to establish Reg Hunt Motors in Melbourne, which went on to become Australia’s largest Holden dealership.

Hunt attended the Italian Auto Icons’ annual event as a special guest and a special presentation took place in honour of his contribution to Maserati and to the Australian automotive industry.

In addition to a quality range of vintage, rare and current models of Italian classic cars, a selection of Italian motorcycles and scooters were on display throughout the day.

The collection featured vintage cars from the 1910s, including two cars with Italian design and engineering connections that raced in the Le Mans 24-hour event in 1925 and 1937.

MASERATI MULTI 70 AND GIOVANNI SOLDINI WERE THE FIRST TO CROSS THE FINISH LINE OF THE RORC CARIBBEAN 600

• The Italian Team set a new race record: 1 day, 6 hours and 49 minutes

• Their direct rival Argo crossed the finish line 7 minutes later

Modena, 20 February 2019 - At 20:49:00 on Tuesday 19 February local time (00:49:00 on Wednesday 20 February UTC) Maserati Multi 70 was the first to cross the finish line of the 11th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, winning Multihull Line Honours and setting the new race record. After racing neck and neck with American MOD 70 Argo for the last 30 miles, Maserati Multi 70 finished the race with an elapsed time of 1 day, 6 hours, 49 minutes and 0 seconds. Argo crossed the finish line at 20:56:04 local time, 7 minutes after Maserati Multi 70.

Aboard the Italian trimaran, skipper Giovanni Soldini was joined by seven professional sailors: the Italians Vittorio Bissaro (tactician), Guido Broggi (mainsail trimmer), Nico Malingri and Matteo Soldini (both grinder and trimmer); the Spanish Carlos Hernandez Robayna (trimmer) and Oliver Herrera Perez (bowman); the French Claude Thélier (trimmer).

The RORC Caribbean 600 starts and finishes in Antigua. The race course is 600 miles long and heads North as far as Saint Martin and South to Guadeloupe, taking in 11 islands in the Lesser Antilles, in the Caribbean, including Barbuda, Nevis, Saba and Saint Barth.

Maserati Multi 70 and American MOD 70 Argo, skippered by Jason Carroll, set off from Fort Charlotte, Antigua, at 14:00 local time (18:00 UTC and 19:00 Italian time) on Monday 18 February, competing in the Multi/MOD 70 class. The Royal Ocean Racing Club specifically created the class for the two trimarans, following the decision to delay their start to allow Argo’s team to finish the repair work after they capsized during a training race on Friday.

Not many hours after the start, a few miles from Saba, Maserati Multi 70 and Argo took the lead of the multihulls fleet: around 19:00 local time (23:00 UTC), the Italian trimaran overtook DNA F4 Falcon, which set sail 2 hours and 20 minutes earlier. After rounding Saint Martin, around midnight on Tuesday 19 February local time (04:00 UTC) Maserati Multi 70 started speeding southwards, reaching speeds of 37 knots.

Soldini explains: “It was a really great race, the wind was strong and we had to perform several manoeuvres. On the first leg, as we slalomed around the Northern islands, we were able to outdistance Argo and to gain a significant advantage over our direct competitor: I must really compliment the crew for the clean and precise manoeuvres”.

On Tuesday morning (local time), the Italian trimaran reached Guadeloupe, the most critical leg of the race: the tall mountains on the island negatively affected the wind. Giovanni Soldini and his team therefore decided to sail a few miles from shore and they were able to reach Les Saintes, the southernmost point of the course, without losing too much speed.

“After we reached Guadeloupe we had a problem with the solent, the main headsail, which made us lose a lot of time. For many hours we were forced to use only the foresail so we lost most of the advantage we had, until we were able to solve the problem”.

The Italian crew is satisfied with the performance aboard Maserati Multi 70. Giovanni Soldini comments: “We’re really happy about Maserati Multi 70: after two years of work the boat is in great shape and we learned how to sail her quite well. Every manoeuvre aboard requires loads of operations, many more than aboard a classic MOD 70, but now we’re able to do it super quickly”.

Giovanni Soldini and his Team hope to reconfirm these excellent results during the Newport to Cabo San Lucas Race, starting on 17 March 2019, the next event in Maserati Multi 70’s 2019 Racing Season.

MASERATI MULTI 70 AND GIOVANNI SOLDINI BEGIN THE RORC CARIBBEAN 600

• First leg of the 2019 Racing Season

• The challenge against MOD 70 Argo begins with 25 knots of wind from the South East

Modena, 19 February 2019 - Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70 set off for the 11th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, yesterday at 14.00 local time (18.00 UTC and 19.00 Italian time). The race has brought more than 700 sailors from around the world aboard 78 boats from over 20 nations to compete on a 600-mile course around 11 islands in the Lesser Antilles, in the Caribbean.

Under a sunny sky, with 25 knots of wind from the South-East and waves between 2 and 3 metres, Maserati Multi 70 crossed the starting line after her direct rival Argo, skippered by Jason Carroll, but after a few minutes the Italian trimaran caught up with Argo and overtook her.

In this edition of the RORC Caribbean 600, Maserati Multi 70, which is in flying mode, will compete against American MOD 70 Argo in the new class Multi/MOD 70. The Royal Ocean Racing Club specifically created this class for the two trimarans, following the Italian Team’s decision to agree to the American Team’s request to postpone the start for a few hours, allowing them to finish repair work after they capsized during a training regatta on Friday.

A few moments before setting sail, skipper Giovanni Soldini commented: “The weather conditions are favourable, there will be a stable and strong Trade Wind, which should allow us to beat the record. The delayed start is no help to us, but our main goal is to have a great race against Argo and we are happy they were able to make it to the starting line. Aboard Argo is a very strong Team, with Brian Thompson, who brings with him all his experience aboard Phaedo3, and François Gabart, one of the strongest sailors of the moment: I’m sure it’s going to be a great challenge”.

Maserati Multi 70’s goal, as well as winning against her direct rival, is to beat the record set by American Phaedo3 in 2016: 1 day, 7 hours, 59 minutes and 4 seconds.

Maserati Multi 70 and the other yachts that have entered the regatta are heading North. They will pass Barbuda, Nevis, Saba and Saint Barth before rounding Saint Martin and heading South towards Guadeloupe. After rounding the island, the fleet will head back North, touching the last mark off Barbuda before sailing back to Antigua towards the finish line. The race course features a variety of currents and winds, which makes it a very interesting and challenging regatta. Of the 75 boats that sailed from Antigua, American Maxi 72 Bella Mente retired from the race and has returned to port.

The weather forecasts indicate stable Trade Winds, between 16 and 20 knots, over the whole race course. Giovanni Soldini explained: “A wind over 14 knots and small waves allows us to fly steadily, giving us quite a significant advantage. We will meet the most critical conditions as we sail South of Guadeloupe, where the wind is lighter”.

Aboard the Italian trimaran, skipper Giovanni Soldini will be joined by an international crew:

• Vittorio Bissaro (IT), tactician – he participated in the Olympic games of Rio 2016 in the Nacra 17 class. He has already sailed aboard Maserati Multi 70 in a few races, including the 2017 edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 and the 2018 edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race. He has also worked with Maserati Multi 70’s Team to optimize the trimaran’s dynamics and data analysis.

• Guido Broggi (IT), mainsail trimmer – he is the boat captain of Maserati Multi 70 and has thousands of miles of ocean sailing under his belt. He has been working alongside Giovanni Soldini for many years, since he was team leader in the building and in the racing preparation of 60’ Fila in 1998. He participated in the RORC Caribbean 600 aboard Maserati Multi 70 in 2017 and, in 2018, he was part of the crew for the Tea Route record from Hong Kong to London, for the Rolex Middle Sea Race and for the RORC Transatlantic Race.

• Carlos Hernandez Robayna (ESP), trimmer – he has many years of sailing experience and has raced in various classes. He has sailed alongside Giovanni Soldini in several regattas and ocean crossings, among which the Transpacific Yacht Race and the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Aboard Maserati Multi 70, he participated in the 2017 edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 and, in 2018, in the Rolex Middle Sea Race and in the RORC Transatlantic Race.

• Oliver Herrera Perez (ESP), bowman – in his career he raced aboard Ims 500s, Swan 45s and Rc44s. He was previously part of VOR 70 Maserati’s crew and now continues to race as bowman aboard Maserati Multi 70. In 2018 he crewed for Giovanni Soldini during the Tea Route record, the Rolex Middle Sea Race and the RORC Transatlantic Race.

• Nico Malingri (IT), grinder and trimmer – he started sailing when he was very young and has conquered two double-handed records with his father Vittorio Malingri aboard a 20-foot-long catamaran: the Marseilles-Carthage in 2016 and the Dakar-Guadeloupe in 2017. In 2018 he was part of Maserati Multi 70’s crew for the Rolex Middle Sea Race and the RORC Transatlantic Race.

• Matteo Soldini (IT), grinder and trimmer – he has been part of the Maserati Multi 70 project since the start and has participated in many offshore races, including a previous edition of the RORC Caribbean 600. In 2018 he was part of the trimaran’s crew for the Rolex Middle Sea Race and for the RORC Transatlantic Race.

• Claude Thélier (FR), trimmer – originally from Guadeloupe, he has many years of sailing experience in different classes, among which ORMA 60s and MOD 70s. In 2009 he participated in the first edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 aboard Region Guadeloupe, the trimaran which held the race record until 2015.

This is the first regatta in Giovanni Soldini and Maserati Multi 70’s 2019 racing season: the Italian Team will then participate in the Newport to Cabo San Lucas Race (starting on March 17th), the California Offshore Race Week (from May 25th to June 1st) and the Transpacific Yacht Race (starting on July 10th). Afterwards the Italian trimaran will sail towards Asia, to compete in the Hong Kong to Vietnam Race (starting on October 16th).

MASERATI MC12 VERSIONE CORSA

Maserati, the MC12 GT1 and success

The Maserati MC12 GT1 marked the return of one of Italy’s greatest brands to the track and its ascendance to the top step of the podium. Its competition debut came in the highly competitive 2004 FIA GT Championship with the factory-backed AF Corse squad. A year later and the Maserati MC12 GT1 won the FIA GT Manufacturers’ Cup, scoring almost double the championship points of the nearest competitor! The MC12 GT1 was powered by a 6.0-litre, V12, naturally aspirated engine, which, due to regulations, was fitted with a restrictor, resulting in the car producing an impressive 580 bhp.

The MC12 GT1 was a dominant force, and over the next six seasons of racing, it claimed six FIA Teams’ Championships, two FIA GT Constructors’ Championships, six Drivers’ Championships and no less than 40 race victories!

Maserati has not competed in FIA GT Championship racing since this era of absolute domination.

 The Maserati MC12 Corsa

Designed for track use by its most important clientele, the Maserati MC12 Corsa was a direct development of the MC12 GT1. Void of restrictors, the race-derived 6.0-litre, naturally aspirated, V12 engine produced an incredible 745 bhp at 8,000 rpm — over 110 bhp more than the MC12 Stradale and 150 bhp more than the MC12 GT1 race car!

Visually, it is clear to see the link to the MC12 GT1, with the Corsa retaining the shorter nose section compared to the MC12 Stradale and a separate rear wing. The wing mirrors and front cooling vents are also the same as the GT1 car, making this the ultimate Maserati!

 This Maserati MC12 Corsa

The Maserati MC12 Corsa offered here, chassis 005, was the only car delivered in silver, with a fabulous bordeaux Alcantara interior to complement. With its dark grey wheels and exposed carbon-fibre rear wing and mounts, this MC12 Corsa has a fabulously understated yet unmistakeable presence — it’s purposeful but not flashy.

This is the ultimate expression, built without restrictions or regulations, of what a track-focussed Maserati should be. A 6.0-litre, naturally aspirated V12 producing 755 bhp with a six-speed sequential semi-automatic Cambiocorsa gearbox and carbon-ceramic brakes ensure that each fortunate owner experiences truly exhilarating performance. The carbon-fibre and Nomex honeycomb sandwich monocoque is stress-bearing, with front and rear aluminium subframes and an integral role cage, weighing in at an impressively light 1,150 kg.

Maserati produced only 12 of these ultimate track weapons to rival Ferrari’s 30 FXXs. Those 12 clients were offered the car by invitation, at a cost of €1,000,000. For your money, this MC12 Corsa could propel itself from 0 to 200 km/h (0–124 mph) in a mere 6.4 seconds and continue on to a top speed of 326 km/h (202 mph)!

Never has there been a more powerful Maserati, and with this example finished in a unique colour combination and having covered a mere 400 kilometres from new, surely you want to experience the exhilaration that this car can offer?
