Season's Greetings from Bart in The Netherlands

"Hi Enrico,

Attached a few pics of my Ghibli: One in winter tune and one taken during this summer when we did what a Ghibli is best at: touring!

We went to Switzerland 25 to 30 degrees centigrade, aircon on (yes, they can operate properly! and we stormed the Susten, Grimsel and Furka passes; absolutely gorgeous!

In the meantime we have thoroughly enjoyed 24.000km with old #2440. I think there are few people using a Ghibli as much as we do. My daughter is an avid driver of the car too. Whenever she can find an excuse to jump in the car for a ride she will do it.

Now with the salt on the road there is time for a winter sleep and some maintenance to be ready when the spring breaks through.

Thanks for your great pages and please continue with them!

Have a lucky and healthy 2010,

Regards,

Bart."

"Hi Enrico,

How are you, everything okay ?!

I know it's a little late, but I am sending you a few photos taken at the Memorial Marco Turci 2009. It was a great success and we had some beautiful cars in attendance.

For 2010 we will have a great new programme of events, and many clubs will be attending at our meeting, that will once again be centred at Mugello and Carpi !!!

The final few photos show me performing as a soloist during the concert and on the Sunday e la domenica con i saluti da Panini and in the centre of Ferrara !!!!!

From Davis in Singapore

"Hi Enrico,

I have a 1989 2.0-litre injection 3AT from Singapore.

I am experiencing some knocking noises from the undercarriage area that sounds like the propellor shaft when the car is changing gears at low speed. It's more obvious when the engine is cold but gets quieter after warming up about 15 minutes or more.

I was advised by my mechanic to renew the propellor shaft mounting and bearing as there was some visible wear on them.

After replacement, there was very little improvement to get rid of the noise especially when running the car during the first fifteen minutes.

I was advised that the best solution is to replace the differential assembly. This is costly, and buying a used unit can be somwhat risky. If I were to just replace the splined coupling with one with better condition gears, do you think there will be an improvement?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,

Davis."

"Hi Enrico,

I hope you could help me with a question that I had some problems to solve? Attached you can see a picture of the thermo Vacuum switch.

Do you know where the tubes should go from the switch and connect to? Starting from the top of the switch. In my car the top one is plugged I don`t know if that is correct?

My car is a 1991 Maserati 222 SE 2.8-litre, 18-valve.

Christmas Greeting from Sweden (we have already got a little snow),

Dennis."

"Dear Enrico,

We are owners of a Maserati 222 Zagato Spyder 1990.

Currently we are having a need for the top gasket kit and the water pump.

Can yourself please advice how to go about sourcing the parts.

Thanking you in advance.

Best Wishes,

Harry."

"Dear Harry,

I have listed a number of reputable suppliers in Italy, the UK, France and the U.S.

Attached you will find pages from the 222 parts manual which will help. Make sure the timing belt is changed every 30,000 Km.

Always quote your VIN number to make sure you order the correct part for your Maserati.

Regards,

Enrico."

Sad news from the UK

"Friends,

I was so sorry to hear the sad news that Bill McGrath had passed away, after having lost his long brave battle with illness. I only ever met him once, I sat next to him at a Maserati Club Christmas Dinner a few years ago, what a nice man. He will be sorely missed, and my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Bill McGrath set up his company specialising in Maseratis back in 1977, after having spent many years in the motor trade. His workshop has built up a reputation for engineering excellence within the Maserati fraternity, and "serviced/rebuilt or restored by Bill McGrath" are always a guarantee of fine workmanship.

Bill retired six years ago, but his legacy of expertise continues on today under the stewardship of new owner Andy Heywood and his team of craftsmen.

Enrico."
