THE MASERATI INTERNATIONAL RALLY 2017
 
 

For 2017, The Maserati International Rally will be centred at the Hotel Terme di Saturnia, Maremma in the peaceful and beautiful setting of the Tuscan hills. This year, the four-day event will be organised by the Maserati Club Italia, and is open only to Maserati Club members worldwide, so if you would like to take part may I suggest you join an official Maserati Club as soon as possible.

I can assure you that the atmosphere is always a very friendly one, and there is always a healthy British attendance at this event !

MASERATI CLUB OF JAPAN - 23rd MASERATI DAY
 

"Dear Enrico,

I would like to share some pictures from 23rd Maserati Day in Japan held by Maserati Club of Japan, even if it took place a couple of months ago.

The 23rd Maserati Day was held at Hakone on the 26th and 27th of November.

The weather was concerning due to early snow just 2 days before the event and the weather forcast was for rainy days. However, we got nice warm weather on first day and we enjoyed driving along the pleasant winding roads without rain and could see Mt. Fuji on the second day, even though it rained during the night.

The beautiful Maseratis gathered together at the Hilton Odawara Resort and Spa and parked on the main approach road.

We enjoyed a good chatting session and meeting new owners at the Maseratis parking space, and enjoyed test driving the new Levante from Maserati Japan.

The Gala Dinner was most enjoyable, with excellent food and pleasant conversation in the company of fellow Maserati owner's family, friends and children.

The theme of MCJ academy at Gala Dinner was "The true Maserati and OSCA". It was a very interesting talk about the relationship between Maserati and OSCA, the difference in philosophy, and drive sensation by Mr. Ekko the chairman of MCJ.

We also very much enjoyed the talk by Mr. Sakai who owns both a Maserati A6GCS and an OSCA Mt4, and who has participated in the Mille Miglia.

We enjoyed driving the Hakone Turnpike and Ashinoko Skyline roads, taking a video on the second day.

The drive along the winding road with that beautiful Maserati sound was of course exciting and then we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the Italian restaurant "Albergo Bamboo".

They were two very wonderful days with our Maseratis.

"Dear Classic Maseratisti,

After the complete success and fond memories of KHAMSIN QUARANTA in 2012, I am happy along with my publisher Doug Blair to invite you to our new International event, two years in the making: CLASSIC MASERATIS IN HIDDEN BURGUNDY - June 22-25 2017 near Macon.

This is not at all repeating and revisiting the same type of region and event, but rather after seeing how those who participated five years ago enjoyed the more famous parts of Burgundy I wanted to show you another part of it few get to see, a region where I have spent all my summers since childhood a hidden gem in splendid hilly countryside with fabulous traffic free roads, wondrous private castles normally not accessible and charming wineries.

Of course we have combined it with fine gastronomy and wines typical of the region, and along with the tour on Friday and Saturday morning we have the concours on Saturday afternoon where we are happy to confirm that Maserati Classiche represented by MM Ermanno Cozza and Fabio Collina will judge the cars. Saturday evening we have the gala awards dinner and dancing.

The event is open to all classic Maserati from the earliest days up to models introduced before 1980, including Kyalami for example–even if your actual car’s model year is from after 1980, as long as the model was launched before 1980 it is eligible. Please consult with us if in doubt. Beyond gathering as many Khamsins as possible of course we would like to highlight the Bora as it has never been celebrated properly in any event anywhere which is hard to believe and must be corrected, hence its presence on our event logo.

I still have my Shamal, although I should drive it more !

Have you seen the Gandini book that was put out by Dalton Watson this past year ? It has won a few awards and will be winning another award in France this next week.

Although the book is about Gandini, Gautem Sen, the author, covers all the Gandini-designed Maseratis including the Quattroporte II, Khamsin, Shamal, Ghibli II, Chubasco and Quattroporte IV. I supplied images of my cars for the Ghibli and Shamal chapters.

I know it is not a strictly-Maserati book, but takes an in-depth look at these often over-looked masterpieces of design. I am certain that your Maserati audience would be interested.

It appears to me that Sig. Charles Rogers has a few too many Maserati parts for my liking.

I definitely will NOT be passing on any of his emails.

And when I emailed him asking for the chassis number of his 3500 GT, this was his reply:

"Thanks for that prompt response, below is an attached picture of my Maserati 3500 GT, note i am wrecking the complete for parts, so all you need do now is to send me the list of all the parts that you need, so that i will know what is left on it and i will also need your complete shipping address to enable me have an ideal of what the shipping will be to your door step thanks."



His idea of a Maserati 3500 GT, which is of course a Sebring 1a serie


AND LATER, in response to my enquiry about Quattroporte Tipo 107 parts

"Thanks for that prompt response, below is an attached picture of my 1967 tipo107, note i am wrecking the complete for parts, so all you need do now is to send me the list of all the parts that you need, so that i will know what is left on it and i will also need your complete shipping address to enable me have an ideal of what the shipping will be to your door step thanks.
