A Track Day at the Wakefield Circuit

"Enrico,

How you going...have not written to you for ages...Guess I got caught up in things...what's new with you ?

Can't rememebr if I told you about our track day on 1st May (see attached pictures).

We finished 4th (again) but this time only 0.8 seconds behind that 355 that was 5 seconds in front last time out...not bad for a a pretty standard car.

The EVO in 1st is a full track car and the WRX in 3rd is also a full track car.

The picture Wakefield-05 shows Don and I with that 355 we are chasing in the background...the only Ferrari to beat us on the last two times out !

We took the turbos off the grey car on Saturday (not as easy as it sounds I can tell you) one was making a bit of noise (guess it is allowed to after 80,000km on the clock).

Kai."

SCUDERIA FERRARI OF WASHINGTON MASERATI SCORES FIRST PODIUM

MONT-TREMBLANT, QUEBEC, CANADA (April 11, 2004)

The SFoW Maserati Trofeo Light scored its first GT Podium finish today in the 6 Hours du Circuit Mont-Tremblant, part of the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. This is the first season of competition for the Maserati Trofeo Light, and while drivers Emil Assentato, Joao Barbosa, and Steve Earle had led almost every race at one point or another, this was their highest finish yet. "We didn't qualify as well as we had hoped," said Assentato after the race, "but once the race started Joao really moved up. We were up to second in GT in the second hour, and I think we could have won if it hadn't been for a two dollar hose." A water hose on the Maserati V8 engine had developed a pin-sized hole at about the midpoint of the race, and the leak finally became serious with only an hour to go. The Maserati was in second place when Barbosa pitted the car to replace the hose, a stop which cost the team a lap against its competition.

"I think our strategy was just about perfect," claimed Earle. "We'd run most of the race planning for the last hour, and everything was going to plan when the hose failed. Still, finishing a six hour race on the podium is a big step, and we've not finished with out development. Today was great, and now our goal is the top step on the podium."

Primary sponsorship for the SFoW Maserati team, 2002 and 2003 Rolex Sports Car Series GT Champions, comes from Maserati of Washington. Additional support is provided by Simply Wireless, Inc., one of the nation's premiere wireless retailers; TubiStyle, the leading after-market supplier of exhaust systems for exotic cars; Putnam Leasing, one of the oldest specialty vehicle leasing companies in the United States; Tradition, a world leader in the brokerage of financial and non-financial products; and J.L. Earle, M.D., P.A. Orthopaedic Surgery.

The next race for the SFoW Maserati Trofeo Light is the Sahlen's Six Hours at the Glen, at Watkins Glen, NY, on June 20.

"Bonjour,

Bonne continuation.

"Hi Enrico!

Do you know if it is possible to see the Ghibli Primatist boat somewhere? I would like to see it live because I find it very interesting.

"Hi Erik,

Thanks for the photos. Looks great! Very neat.

I have spoken with Sig Carlo Abbate and he tells me that the Primatist boat is on permanent display in their museum at Grandola ed Uniti near Lake Como.

Primatist Srl - Via Italia - Zona Industriale - 22010 - Grandola ed Uniti (CO) - Tel.+39.0344.31.58.1 - Fax +39.0344.31.03.5.

I would like to feature the tow bar in my Enthusiasts' Pages, could you please send me a photo of the rear of the car minus tow bar?

All the best,

Enrico."

Did you remember I asked you a couple years ago about a tow hitch for the Biturbo. Well now it is mounted on my car. (see attached photos) I have dreamed about this for several years because of the need to tow with style, refinement and relaxation. For me it was of course very important that the detachable hitch was completely invisible when not in use, and the guys who mounted did realized this, and it is truly invisible. Technically the concept works superbly. With 431 NM I can cruise at 110 kph in 4th up hills without any problems. I promise that no other things will be towed with my Maserati except from my speedboat. Maseratis are above all no 'work horse'. The boat has in fact even better driving characteristics than the Maser so I feel it is no problem of ethics. It flies at 85 mph and it feels like 150 mph. because it has no windscreen! Best Regards,

Erik."

RADUNO MASERATI A BERGAMO, 23 MAGGIO 2004

Claudio.

MASERATI MEETING AT BERGAMO, 23 MAGGIO 2004

Organised by: THE ALFIERI MASERATI CLUB ITALIA 1914

With the participation of THE BITURBO CLUB ITALIA

This year the Club Alfieri Maserati of Milan organised its touristic meeting in the city of Bergamo.

In all 25 Maseratis of all ages took part, mainly from Northern Italy and Germany. 15 from members of the Club Alfieri Maserati, 6 from the Biturbo Club Italia and 4 from the Biturbo Club Deutschland.

Worthy of a special mention were two splendid classic cars: a magnificent Blue 3500 GT Spyder Vignale and a metallic silver 3500 GTI by Touring. Also present were Biturbos of all types, a Quattroporte IV right up to the later 3200 GTA and a Coupè Cambiocorsa.

Our starting point was a service area on the A4 Torino to Trieste motorway, close to Bergamo. From there we travelled in convoy* to the Piazza Vecchia di Bergamo Alta, the historic centre of the city, which is normally closed to traffic, where we were given a guided tour of the historic buildings.

At around 13:30 we made our way to lunch at a local restaurant in the hills around Bergamo. We lunched and chatted until the meeting ended later that afternoon.

Claudio.

"Enrico,

I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy your web site. I don’t see where you find the time to keep it up so well. I own an 84’ Biturbo and you web site has helped me immensely.

I would be honored for you to post 'my baby' and my e-mail. I will send you some better pictures this weekend; the one I sent you is very poor resolution...

As promised. These are much higher resolution...

Thank you for your hard work,

Walker."
