NEW QUATTROPORTE SPORT GT S TO MAKE INTERNATIONAL DEBUT AT THE 2009 NAIAS
on the 70th anniversary of Maserati’s first Indianapolis 500 win

Modena – December 22nd, 2008 – The new Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S sets yet another milestone in terms of sportiness in the high performance luxury saloon segment of the automotive market. Conceived and developed as “a real driving machine in the guise of a luxury saloon”, the Quattroporte Sport GT S is the ultimate expression of Maserati’s sportiness in the Quattroporte range.

The technical changes to the new Quattroporte Sport GT S in respect to the Quattroporte S concern four areas:

the mapping of the V8 4.7 litre engine, with power increased to 440bhp (323kW);
the gearshift management software, with new features designed to increase driving enjoyment;
the front and rear suspension system featuring single-rate dampers, stiffer springs and lower ride height;
the sports exhaust controlled by pneumatic valves for a deep, throaty and captivating sound.

The sportier and more aggressive look is also evident due to the interior and exterior stylistic choices:

the new black grille with concave vertical fins featuring the Trident logo with red accents, typical of the sportier versions of Maserati models;
the new headlights, in metallic titanium finish;
the side and rear “shadow line”, which includes black finishing around the doors, body-coloured door handles and black twin oval exhaust pipes;
the new M-design seats with perforated Alcantara® and leather upholstery;
the standard trim in Titantex, a “titanium coloured” composite material.

The new Quattroporte Sport GTS will be unveiled at the 2009 NAIAS in Detroit. The Maserati press conference will take place on the Maserati stand at 9:40am on January 12th, 2009.

"SPIRIT OF SIMONE"

"Ciao Enrico,

Distinti saluti,

Maserati - Spirit of Simone."

"Buon giorno Enrico,

Buon natale,

Spirit of Simone..........Jak."

Hi Enrico,

We are sending you photos from the World Championships at Porto Cervo in 2007 and the programme of events for 2009 with our new Melges 32 class boat, a championship with a large following that adopts elements originating from the America's Cup. With Maserati we will contest, along with other combative teams, in a circuit that represents the most competitive in the world, the end of which will culminate with the World Championship, that takes place at Porto Cervo.

The story that will accompany us, is fascinating: our boat is called "Spirit of Simone", in honour of Simone Bianchetti, the youngest single-handed yachtsman, and, the first Italian to round Cape Horn, during a non-stop round the world race.

Our Maserati are: a Biturbo Coupè 1983 - a Maserati A6G 2000 Pinin Farina 1951 in need of a complete restoration - and various Maserati motorcycles.

Best regards,

Maserati - Spirit of Simone."

"Good morning Enrico,

We forgot to tell you that we also have a 1983 Biturbo in blue, as soon as we can, we want to buy a Spyder.

We will be delighted for you to publish the images of the boat.....as you can see.....even on sea there are those who follow Maserati.

Mery Christmas,

Spirit of Simone..........Jak."

"Hi Enrico,

I am sending you some photos of my nicely restored 1998 Maserati Ghibli GT, #ZAM336B00*0361882*, which perhaps has one of the best colour combination, 'Verde Tundra Metallizzata' with a beige leather interior.

My Ghibli has now been restored both aesthetically and mechanically. This car is one of the last 30 Ghibli GTs built, and was first registered in Belgium in March 1999.

Among the works carried out during its restoration were:

ENGINE: Reconditioned IHI turbochargers, new water pump and radiator. All worn bearings, seals and other parts replaced during the second 'major' engine service including timing belt change.

EXHAUST: Tuned exhaust system with new stainless steel tail pipes.

GEARBOX: Overhauled gearbox with new clutch and slave cylinders.

BRAKES: Completely replaced with a new Brembo discs.

SUSPENSION: Refurbished Koni shock absorbers with new springs.

OTHER WORK: Hood and wind deflector repainted this summer. New high tech alarm with automatic hood opener. Alpine stereo system with 6-CD changer and Blaupunkt speakers. Nokia hands-free kit. Original 17-inch GT rims. The car has a Xenon light conversion although for Belgian 'conformite' I had to refit the originals.

Best regards,

Andras."

Re: Wrinkle finish paint for Maserati Ghibli rocker covers:

There’s not much choice I’m afraid. The only crackle finish paint we’ve found available in aerosol is called VHT. It is slightly darker than the original but it’s Hobson’s choice!

Cheers,

Andrea."

Re: Wrinkle finish paint for rocker covers:

"I have just spoken with Marcello Candini from the Candini Workshop in Modena, and he tells me that that type of paint, i.e. wrinkle finish, is only available in one shade of any particular colour, that is either red, black, blue or green etc.

A red from whoever manufactures a wrinkle/crackle finish paint will be fine.

The only other solution is the have the rocker covers powder coated in red. It's more lasting, but does not give them that original finish.

Enrico."

OMAS PENS REFLECTS A HIGH STANDARD OF STYLING AND WORKMANSHIP.

An exciting journey, involving close creative collaboration, has led to the production of the exclusive “Omas for Maserati” Limited Edition made of 925% silver. It is a clever interpretation of the sportsmanship and elegance of Maserati's technical features with the craftsmanship expressed in the exclusive stylistic details of Omas pens.

The “Front grille”, Maserati's historic emblem, is mounted in the top of the cap with its aerodynamic design, greatly inspired by the most modern and innovative of Maserati's cars: the GranTurismo.

As if designed by the wind, the tapered shiny clip, in contrast to the satin finish of the cap, separates the side vents skilfully engraved on the sides of the cap.

The satin finish barrel of the Limited Edition is enriched with elegant incisions which, as on the cap, emphasise the conical shape.

The shiny knob, in the traditional hexagonal shape, operates the filling unit in the fountain pen model and is embellished by a bas-relief engraving of the Trident.

The shiny nib-holder, also made of silver, highlights the engraving of the Maserati logo. The nib is made of 18 K rhodium-plated gold.

Numbered limited edition of 1200 piston Fountain Pens and 714 Rollerballs.

This interesting item popped up recently on eBay. A a restored Maserati steering wheel centerpiece, with horn and headlight funcions, from a 3500GT by Carrozzeria Touring. Bidding started at EURO 90 and it finally sold for EURO 104. I think that was a good deal!
